Finding the right heat pump for your house.

Heat pumps are two-way ACs that can both heat and cool your home.

They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The best option depends on your needs, goals, and budget.

Replacing an old furnace.

You'll need a central ducted heat pump to replace a furnace. Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling, so the new heat pump will replace the AC too.

We recommend Fujitsu and Mitsubishi for superior build quality ($22,000 to 26,000) or Mits Air for excellent cold-weather performance at a lower price. ($16,000 to 18,000)

Replacing an old air conditioner.

A heat pump can replace your AC and provide both heating and cooling. It can work with the existing furnace or you'll install a new indoor unit for a fully electric system.

We recommend Fujitsu and Mitsubishi for superior build quality ($22,000 to 26,000) or Mits Air for excellent cold-weather performance at a lower price. ($16,000 to 18,000)

Replacing a boiler (with radiators)

You recommend installing Quilt ductless heat pumps for efficient heating, zonal control, and cooling.

Quilt is the world's most intuitive, advanced, and efficient ductless heat pump on the market. Wall-mounted units allow for perfect temperature control in every room.

Installation costs scale with the number of indoor heads. ($15,000 for 2 zones, $30,000 for 4, etc.)

Adding a ductless unit inside.

Most houses have a room that's uncomfortably hot in the summer or cold in the winter.

Depending on the layout and ductwork, a right-sized heat pump or building envelope improvements can improve comfort problems like scorching top floors.

But the easy solution is choosing a 1-zone ductless heat pump by Quilt. ($10,000)

Why homeowners love us:

Questions? We've got answers.

Here's what homeowners ask before choosing Foundry—and how we deliver beyond the average quote.

What heat pump do I need?

That depends entirely on your home—and getting it wrong is the #1 reason heat pumps underperform. Foundry runs performance-based heat load calculations using your actual gas bills, not guesswork or “rule-of-thumb” sizing. That means we recommend the right heat pump for comfort, efficiency, and year-round performance—backed by data, not sales pressure. The right heat pump depends on your goals, needs, and budget.

No generic recommendations. No upsells. Just the right option for your house.

Do you help with heat pump rebates?

Yes. Foundry is a registered contractor with all major rebate programs in Ontario, including Home Renovation Savings (HRS) and Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA).

We’ll walk you through eligibility, application steps, and timing. And if we spot something that disqualifies you, we’ll tell you before you spend a dime.

We know the system—and we’ll help you work it to your advantage.

Can I replace my AC and keep my furnace?

You can—if you have a new furnace but your AC is due for replacement, you can install a hybrid heat pump to work with your existing furnace. The furnace will act as a backup heat source while the heat pump covers most (or all!) of your heating needs. The downside is that you'll need to do annual maintenance on the furnace because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and gas leaks, and you'll continue paying a monthly fee to Enbridge whether you use the gas furnace or not.

It's possible—but it's often better to replace a furnace & AC at the same time.

Are premium heat pumps worth the extra cost?

It depends on your needs, goals, and budget.

Premium heat pumps are quieter and more reliable. With superior build quality, they last longer and they're about twice as quiet as affordable brands. And because we size them properly, they don't short-cycle or break down early.

But we offer affordable brands like MITSAIR and Moovair, which offer good cold-weather performance. And we hold ourselves to the highest installation standards to reduce repair and maintenance costs in the future.

Premium heat pumps last longer and they're twice as quiet as budget brands—so you get peace-of-mind and a quiet home.

Why is Foundry more expensive than other contractors?

We hear this a lot—and we get it. Foundry is a premium contractor, and we charge more because we use better equipment, higher installation standards, and specialized labour. Traditional contractors have one heat pump specialist in the company, but the in-house installers have minimal heat pump experience. At Foundry, every tech has 10,000+ hours of experience with heat pumps—so we deliver quality that other contractors can't match.

We’re not the cheapest quote. But we're the quote you won’t regret.

The other guys compete on price—we compete on outcomes.

Do you offer maintenance and service plans after installation?

No annual service contract needed. Heat pumps are incredibly low maintenance—just keep the filters clean and the outdoor unit clear of snow and debris. If something goes wrong, we’ve got you covered with our best-in-class warranties and dedicated service team. Most of our systems come with a 10-year parts, labour, and compressor warranty.

Traditional contractor offer service plans as a sales tool, but a properly installed heat pump doesn't require professional annual maintenance.

You don’t need a service plan. You need a system that’s installed properly, from the start.
