Frequently Asked Questions

What is a feel-good home?

Feel-good homes are comfortable, healthy, resilient, and sustainable. Heat pumps deliver remarkable results if they're sized and installed properly.

Why should I work with Foundry Heat Pumps?

Foundry Heat Pumps is a better HVAC company based in Whitby that developed the HAVEN method to find the right heat pump for every house. We're entirely focused on high-quality heat pump installations.

Do heat pumps work in Canada? In cold winters?

Yes, modern heat pumps are designed for Canadian winters. They operate like air conditioners that can both heat and cool.

Even cold air has energy-- so heat pumps keep you comfortable when it's -30°C outside. Backup heating is included in every project.

How much does a heat pump cost in Ontario?

Replacing a furnace & AC with a heat pump can cost $10,000 to $30,000 in Ontario. It varies by contractor and equipment.

Foundry Heat Pumps averages $14,810 (Moovair) and $22,400 (Mitsubishi) for central ducted heat pumps (excl. rebates & taxes).

What heat pump size do I need in Toronto?

Contractors should complete performance-based heat load calculations (based on gas usage) before sizing equipment.

The standard HVAC method includes "rule of thumb" estimates, but those are just guesses. We run the numbers on every project.

Do you help with rebate and loan programs?

Foundry Heat Pumps was chosen as an approved contractor to install heat pumps under the Home Energy Saver rebate program. Eligible homeowners will receive a $10,000 rebate.

Drew Tozer is an NRCan-registered energy advisor, which gives him early access to upcoming changes to rebate programs.

Do you service my area? Am I too far away?

We're based in Whitby with a service area covering the GTA (Toronto, Durham, Halton, Peel, and York) and east to Peterborough and Northumberland (Port Hope and Cobourg).

If you're farther than that, reach out! We're friends with great contractors across the province-- we'll happily connect you with one.

What's the right heat pump for my house?

We invented the HAVEN method to make sure homeowners get the right heat pump for a remarkable result. If your house isn't ready, we'll recommend other upgrades to be done first.

Heat pumps can be installed in most houses-- but our goal isn't to work with everyone, we use heat pumps to solve homeowner problems.

What warranties or guarantees do you offer?

Foundry Heat Pumps stands behind its high-quality workmanship with a best-in-class 10-year parts, 10-year labour, and 10-year compressor warranties on all new heat pumps.

We've got you covered so you can stop worrying about worst-case scenarios. If we make a mistake, we'll fix it free of charge.

Do I need a heat pump or a gas furnace?
