FAQs

Here's what homeowners ask before choosing Foundry—and how we deliver beyond the average quote.

Do 2-way ACs (heat pumps) work in Canadian winters?

Yes, modern cold-climate heat pumps provide 100% of their rated output at -20'C. And since they're installed like a conventional AC system—you'll keep your existing furnace as backup. You get the best of both worlds. The efficiency and cost savings from a 2-way AC with the power and reliability of a furnace. It improves resilience and energy independence while saving you thousands every winter.

What areas do you install and service heat pumps?

Foundry is based in Whitby. We primarily serve north and east of Toronto, including the GTA, Durham, Peterborough, Northumberland, and Kawartha Lakes.

Can I replace my AC and keep my furnace?

Yes, this is called a "hybrid" (dual fuel) system. The furnace will act as a backup heat source while the heat pump covers most (or all!) of your heating needs. The 2-way AC will also provide cooling in the summer.

You can also install a 2-way AC as a fully electric system (without a furnace backup). The 2-way AC needs to be properly sized to cover the entire heating load for the house.

Do you help with rebate programs?

Yes. Foundry is a registered contractor with all major rebate and loan programs in Ontario. We help you access rebates programs in Ontario, including the Home Renovation Savings (HRS) and Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA).

We’ll walk you through eligibility, application steps, and timing.

How long is the warranty?

Every 2-way AC (heat pump) comes with a 10-year warranty. This best-in-class warranty reflects our confidence in the high-quality workmanship we deliver.
