Heat Pump vs Furnace

It's a common question but it's the wrong one.

A better question is "what does right-sized HVAC look like in my house?"

Right-sized HVAC leads to better homeowner experiences and more control over indoor conditions: improved comfort and cleaner air.

So what's right for my house?

It depends on the house. Most homes in Canada require 2-3 tons of heating and cooling but large or complex houses can be 10 tons or more.

Residential heat pumps range from 1 to 4 tons and the most common gas furnaces are 5 to 10 tons. They don't make gas furnaces small enough to be the right size for an average house in Canada.

For most homes, right-sized HVAC requires a heat pump. And for larger houses, a heat pump can be installed with a backup furnace to get the benefits of a heat pump with the higher capacity of a furnace.

We aren't for everyone.

Traditional HVAC focuses on quick jobs like emergency replacements and cheap furnace swaps. You deserve better.

Those companies are in a "race to the bottom", cutting corners to provide cheaper quotes. At Foundry Heat Pumps, we focus on quality work for remarkable results.

Foundry Heat Pumps is a premium heat pump installer that uses right-sized HVAC as a tool to solve problems and deliver results that matter to you.

Do heat pumps work in Canada? In cold winters?
