👋 HEY, HOMEOWNER!
Heat pumps aren't new (they've been round for 170 years), but they're gaining popularity because of advancements in cold-weather performance.
Traditional contractors make heat pumps complicated, but they don't need to be. Feel-Good Homes cuts through the myths and misconceptions. Read this book and you'll know how to:
Identify comfort and health problems in your house
Understand the science behind those problems
Choose the right solution within your budget
Find a reliable contractor to do the work
Right-sized heat pumps deliver the perfect amount of heating and cooling without hot or cold spots.
Heat pumps run steadily and filter continuously, helping reduce dust, allergens, and dirty air in your home.
Electric heat pumps don’t burn fuel—so there’s zero risk of carbon monoxide, gas leaks, or combustion risks.
Powered by low-carbon electricity in Ontario, heat pumps can reduce your emissions by up to 90%.
01
Build quality
Fujitsu and Mitsubishi heat pumps are primarily manufactured in Japan. They have full control over development and manufacturing, ensuring premium components and best-in-class build quality.
By contrast, most 'budget brands' are made in China by third party manufacturers. The equipment is shipped to North America and white-labelled under domestic brands.
02
Reliability
Fujitsu and Mitsubishi are considered the gold standard for cold-climate heat pumps. They are among the original innovators of modern heat pumps.
That track record of reliability and field-tested durability proves that Fujitsu and Mitsubishi heat pumps last. Budget brands haven't been in the field for long enough to understand and fix common failure points.
03
Noise
In addition to a long track record of premium build quality, reliability, and cold weather performance, Fujitsu and Mitsubishi heat pumps have a reputation as one of the quietest brands available.
Fujitsu and Mitsubishi are rated for 53 dB outdoors — the budget brands are more than twice as loud at 64 dB. Fujitsu and Mitsubishi can be installed closer to living spaces without interrupting your family or neighbours.
That depends entirely on your home—and getting it wrong is the #1 reason heat pumps underperform. Foundry runs performance-based heat load calculations using your actual gas bills, not guesswork or “rule-of-thumb” sizing. That means we recommend the right heat pump for comfort, efficiency, and year-round performance—backed by data, not sales pressure. The right heat pump depends on your goals, needs, and budget.
No generic recommendations. No upsells. Just the right option for your house.
You can—if you have a new furnace but your AC is due for replacement, you can install a hybrid heat pump to work with your existing furnace. The furnace will act as a backup heat source while the heat pump covers most (or all!) of your heating needs. The downside is that you'll need to do annual maintenance on the furnace because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and gas leaks, and you'll continue paying a monthly fee to Enbridge whether you use the gas furnace or not.
It's possible—but it's often better to replace a furnace & AC at the same time.
Yes, if you want your heat pump to run quietly, efficiently, and reliably. We install premium cold-climate models from Japanese manufacturers like Mitsubishi and Fujitsu. Budget brands like Moovair offer good cold-weather performance but they're noisy and less reliable. Premium heat pumps offer superior build quality that lets them last longer and they're about twice as quiet as budget brands. And because we size them properly, they don't short-cycle or break down early.
Premium heat pumps last longer and they're twice as quiet as budget brands—so you get peace-of-mind and a quiet home.
We hear this a lot—and we get it. Foundry is a premium contractor, and we charge more because we use better equipment, higher installation standards, and specialized labour. Traditional contractors have one heat pump specialist in the company, but the in-house installers have minimal heat pump experience. At Foundry, every tech has 10,000+ hours of experience with heat pumps—so we deliver quality that other contractors can't match.
We’re not the cheapest quote. But we're the quote you won’t regret.
The other guys compete on price—we compete on outcomes.
Yes. Foundry is a registered contractor with all major rebate and loan programs in Ontario. We help you access rebates through the Home Renovation Savings (HRS) program or the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) and the interest-free loan (up to $40,000) through Canada Greener Homes. We'll connect you with an NRCan energy advisor to access the loan.
We’ll walk you through eligibility, application steps, and timing. And if we spot something that disqualifies you, we’ll tell you before you spend a dime. We even made a tool so you can check your rebate eligibility without digging through program websites: click here.
We know the system—and we’ll help you work it to your advantage.
No annual service contract needed. Heat pumps are incredibly low maintenance—just keep the filters clean and the outdoor unit clear of snow and debris. If something goes wrong, we’ve got you covered with our best-in-class warranties and dedicated service team. Most of our systems come with a 10-year parts, labour, and compressor warranty.
Traditional contractor offer service plans as a sales tool, but a properly installed heat pump doesn't require professional annual maintenance.
You don’t need a service plan. You need a system that’s installed properly, from the start.
